My journey to the counselor’s chair
A little about me…
Hi! I’m Laura. I’ve been practicing mental health counseling since my graduate school internship in 2015. I feel the most at home in nature and amongst others who have a zest for life and a desire to grow personally, spiritually and relationally. Throughout my career I have worked in various settings with a variety of clients with a particular focus on treating various types of abuse, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and relationship problems. Before starting my own private practice in 2023, I worked as a clinical supervisor for master’s level, pre-licensed counselors and case workers. All that I’ve gained on my journey thus far has served to refine my skills, deepen my empathy for others and increase my love for this work.
My Approach
The renowned psychoanalyst, Carl Jung once said, “Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul, be just another human soul.” I draw from the culmination of my education and training to implement effective interventions delivered authentically and intuitively. I incorporate somatic, mindfulness-based, cognitive, emotion-focused and psychodynamic interventions to help clients to dig-deeper and to re-connect with all parts of themselves. I am also well-versed in parts work, re-parenting work, shadow work and Jungian theories. Some of my professional and personal heros include: Carl Jung, Esther Perel, John and Judy Gottman, Bessel Van Der Kolk, Dr. Nicole LePera (The Holistic Psychologist), Richard Schwartz, Paul Stamets, and Viktor Frankl to name a few.
