Insurance and other payment options
Insurance:
Currently, I am in network with Aetna, Optum/UBH, Optum/UBH EAP, and Cigna for individual therapy. In order to use insurance for services, one must meet criteria for a mental health related diagnosis. If you do not meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis, you can still opt to self-pay for therapy. Typically, I do not take insurance for couple’s therapy because in order to do so one partner must be the identified client, be given a mental health diagnosis, and the therapy sessions must relate to the identified client’s diagnosis. If you would like have your spouse join your individual treatment for support from time to time that is fine, however, this is not the same as traditional couple’s therapy. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about this.
Health Savings Account:
Even if you don’t use your insurance for services, you can still use your health savings account to cover the cost of therapy. If you do use your insurance for services then you can use your health savings account for your co-pay or co-insurance where applicable.
Out-Of-Network Benefits
If you have insurance with a company with which I am not in network, you may be able to be reimbursed for a portion of the session cost using your Out-Of-Network benefits. Keep in mind, the same criteria for billing in network (meeting criteria for a mental health diagnosis) applies when using Out- Of-Network benefits. If you choose to use this benefit then you are responsible for paying the Self-Pay rate for your session and you may be reimbursed by your insurance company for a percentage of the cost. We can discuss this option further during your free consultation.
